Director At Large Position Available

Director at Large Position Available – Nominations due May 23, 2018

Dear OIPC members and friends,

Are you passionate about the issue of invasive plants in Ontario? Do you have some background knowledge and experience in this subject? Are you interested in representing the OIPC membership? Then an OIPC Director-at-Large position may be for you!

We are currently accepting nominations for one Director-at-Large position. Directors-at-Large are nominated and voted in by the general membership and represent their interests on the OIPC Board. Their terms are for two years and are renewable for up to four consecutive terms.

Director-at-Large Information

What else may be involved you ask? We require that the Director-at-Large have knowledge regarding invasive plants, their impacts and/or their management. It’s important to know this information so you can participate in the OIPC monthly Board meeting held on the third Thursday of every month (through conference call) and attend a face-to-face meeting at our Annual General Meeting and Conference held every fall. You will also be expected to allocate some time other than the hour-long monthly meeting to assist with the Council’s projects and tasks. Employees of federal and provincial governments are not eligible for Director-at-Large positions unless they are not in a key decision-making role. We also encourage Directors-at-Large to join anyone of OIPC’s great committees!

To learn more about this opportunity and how to nominate yourself or someone else, please see attachment below.

The deadline for nominations is May 23, 2018. The nominees will be reviewed by the OIPC Executive Committee. Only OIPC members will be notified of the candidates and have the opportunity to vote.

If you would like more information about the Council please contact us at our new phone number 705-741-5400 or email Belinda Junkin, OIPC Executive Director.

Sincerely,

The OIPC Board of Directors
