Once again, the OIPC AGM got bigger and better! Every year we work to include more valuable information and networking opportunities for our partners to connect with others working to prevent the spread of invasive plant species. We added 4 pre-meeting tours to view local control projects and areas of significance.
The tours on Thursday October 13th included:
Sandbanks Provincial Park with Joanne Dewey
Massassauga Point with Tim Trustham (Quinte Conservation)
Prince Edward Point with Terry Sprague
Woodlot Tour with Andy Margetson (Prince Edward Stewardship Council)
The evening bonfire on the beach was held despite drizzly weather, and everyone had a blast! A huge thanks to Mike for bringing his guitar and banjo.
The actual AGM and Symposium was attended by 100 registrants and presenters. As usual, there were some changes to the format from last year, but we kept the parts that people liked the most from previous meetings. We kept a good amount of time for networking and discussion, and also maintained our reputation for getting a great combination of leading specialists from Canada and the USA, along with the key responsible people for important policy and program areas in the provincial and federal government.
